Where should an LA anxiety therapist list their practice?
What each directory costs and how its listings work.
Most therapists don’t choose one directory. They pick two or three and keep the ones that send clients. This page compares the options for someone in your position: a therapist in Los Angeles who works with anxiety.
Anxiety L.A. runs one of these directories, so read it with that in mind. We have tried to be straight about where the others are better.
| Directory | Cost | How you pay |
|---|---|---|
| Anxiety L.A. | $149 a year, with the first 3 months free for therapists new to Anxiety L.A. | Annual flat fee |
| Psychology Today | $359.40 ($29.95 a month) | Monthly, no contract |
| TherapyDen | Free basic profile; $30 a month for premium | Free, or monthly |
Prices read from each provider’s own page on 2026-10-02. Providers change them; check before you buy. Zencare is listed below without a price, because we have not confirmed one on its own page.
- Zencare — Includes professional photography and video. Price not listed here; see their site.
Insurance platforms are a different decision
These include a listing, but what you are really choosing is a billing relationship. If you leave, you may need your own contracts with each insurer. Compare them on their own terms, not against the directories above.
- Headway — Free for therapists to join. Insurers pay Headway, and it keeps part of each session payment.
- Alma — A monthly subscription, with credentialing and billing handled for you.
Where the others are better
- Size. Psychology Today’s directory is far larger than this one, in Los Angeles and everywhere else.
- Insurance. Headway or Alma, if you want to be in network without credentialing on your own.
- Cost to try. TherapyDen has a free profile.
- Photography. Zencare includes professional photos and video.
How Anxiety L.A. is different
- Only anxiety, only Los Angeles. Every one of the 23 therapists listed here works with anxiety and practices in LA.
- Random order. Listings appear in randomized order, reshuffled each visit, and no position can be bought. That is written into the Listing Agreement, not just the marketing.
- Concerns are what the therapist treats, not a badge. There is no rating, no ranking and no featured tier. If a specific approach matters to you — exposure and response prevention for OCD, for instance — ask the therapist directly whether they are trained in it.
- Licenses are checked. We check license and registration numbers against state board records before a listing goes up. That is not an assessment of clinical quality, and we do not display a verification badge.
If you already use a general directory, Anxiety L.A. may be worth testing as a specialized additional listing. Ask every new client how they found you, and after six months renew whichever listings paid for themselves.
We don’t publish traffic or inquiry figures, because we don’t have numbers worth showing you yet. When we do, they will be measured, not estimated.
Anxiety L.A. is operated by Ballpoint Labs. Will Baum, LCSW, a principal of Ballpoint Labs, is listed in the directory. Page and competitor figures reviewed 2026-10-02.
